St Francis Magazine Vol 8, No 2 | April 2012 Appendix 1 EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN (EAP) An emergency constitutes a worsening of security issues for Partners in a country. When facing an emergency situation (i.e. when faced with unrest or the threat of war) and making decisions about possible evacuation, consider the following questions: Are you rendered ineffective or inoperative? Are national Christians agreed that your staying is a problem for the church? Does your presence create a security threat to your neighbours? Has a decision been made by the joint or seconding agency for evacuation. Is the High Commission/Embassy bringing pressure to bear on you to leave and is transport being provided? Is normal transport available? Is there proven physical danger? Is there an opportunity for re-‐deployment either until the emergency is over, or for future service? Is the safety of the family of concern? Is there a feeling that repatriation is advisable? One of these factors alone may not be sufficient reason to evacuate but several factors may constitute sufficient reason. All Country Leadership Teams should have on file an “Emergency Action Plan form” for each partner serving in the country (see Admin 11 Appendix). The details for each partner will be reviewed annually. 182
