St Francis Magazine Vol 8, No 2 | April 2012 2.2.4 Reflections The Regional Director immediately asked for an evaluation of the processes and situation, particularly to help the organization address the issues of business within its work. It appeared that some of the breakdowns in the events occurred where there was ambiguity in framework that governed relationships and responsibilities. A third party was engaged to do this evaluation, but when they were unable to complete it, an internal review was done, with another third party asked to review that. The recommendations are being sent to the business leaders in the organization for their response and recommendations. The broader leadership of the organization will also review them and assess what further response is needed. 3. Organisational responsibilities when working in contexts of risk and suffering Preparedness for, and management of a crisis for a mission organization involve a number of areas and stages. These are outlined in the chart below, which nominates critical areas for an organization to engage with if it is to stand sure and be effective in doing mission in today’s world. 158

Mission organisations can appear cumbersome because of the multiple stakeholders involved at different levels of a structure.
