Diving with <strong>Galileo</strong>set bearings are kept in the profi le memoryand can be viewed with SmartTRAK afterdownloading the dive to a PC.If you have set a reference bearing, arrowswill appear to the left or to the right of thenumeric bearing indication, to show you inwhich direction you should turn in order tomatch the set bearing. As an additional aidin navigation, <strong>Galileo</strong> automatically marks thepositions at 90 and 120 degrees to the leftand to the right of the set bearing, in additionto the position at 180 degrees (as an aidfor square course, triangular course andreciprocal course navigation respectively).These are denoted with ┴ , ∆ and .The left button (BOOK) still allows you toset bookmarks.3.4.2 Setting bookmarksBy pressing the left button (BOOK) youcan set any number of bookmarks asreminders of particular moments during thedive. In CLASSIC, FULL and COMPASSconfi gurations, setting a bookmark alsoresets the stopwatch.When you set a bookmark, <strong>Galileo</strong>will display the confi rmation messageBOOKMARK SET (if the safety stop timeris visible on the display, the message is notdisplayed. In FULL and GAUGE displayconfi gurations it also does not show, sincethe reset of the stopwatch is already anindication that the bookmark was setsuccessfully). The bookmarks will appearon the dive profi le in SmartTRAK.3.4.3 Safety stop timerAt the end of a dive, at depths of 6.5m/20ft orshallower and if there are no decompressionobligations, the left button label changesfrom BOOK to TIMER (unless the option isturned OFF, see section 2.3.3).If SAFETY STOP TIMER in DIVESETTINGS is set to AUTOMATIC:if a minimum depth of 10m/30ft hasbeen reached during the dive, at a depthof 5m/15ft the safety stop timer willautomatically start a countdown and abookmark will be added to the dive profi le.If you go below 6.5m/20ft, the timer willdisappear and the no-stop time is shownagain. Upon returning to 5m/15ft, the timerwill start again automatically. As long asyou are shallower than 6.5m/20ft and thereare no decompression obligations, youcan press TIMER to start or restart thecountdown manually.If SAFETY STOP TIMER in DIVE SETTINGSis set to MANUAL:at a depth of 6.5m/20ft and shallowerpressing TIMER will activate the safetystop timer and add a bookmark to thedive profi le. You can restart the timer anynumber of times. If you go below 6.5m/20ft,the timer will disappear and the no-stoptime will be shown again. You need topress TIMER again upon ascending over6.5m/20ft to restart the timer.If SAFETY STOP TIMER in DIVE SETTINGSis set to OFF:It is not possible to activate the safety stoptimer.54
