3. Diving with Galileo NOTE:- Start breathing from the tankwith the new gas mixture beforeconfi rming a switch.- If you choose a different tank thanthe one suggested by Galileo, theMOD alarm may go off and thedecompression schedule maychange. WARNINGAlways make sure you are switching to theintended gas. Failure to do so may result inserious injury or death. If you confi rm the switch, the messageSWITCH TO GAS T2 (or TD) SUCCESSFULappears on the display for 4 seconds. Ifyou exit without confi rming the switch, themessage EXCLUDING GAS T2 (or TD)appears for 4 seconds.3.7.5 Special situations3.7.5.1 Switching back to a gas mixturewith lower oxygen concentrationThere may be situations in which youhave to switch back to a gas with loweroxygen concentration than what you arecurrently breathing. This can happen forinstance if you want to descend deeperthan the MOD for the current gas, or if forinstance you have run out of gas in TDduring the decompression. At this pointyou can manually initiate the gas switchby pressing and holding the left button.Galileo will display the message SWITCHTO GAS T1 (or whichever is next in thesequence) and its MOD. The left andmiddle button labels change to SAVE and>>, respectively. Use >> to choose the tankyou want to use, then press or press andhold SAVE to confi rm the switch. Galileowill display the message SWITCH TO GAST1 (or T2) SUCCESSFUL and adapt thedecompression schedule accordingly. If youwant to interrupt the gas switch procedure, press and hold the right button.3.7.5.2 Gas switch not carried out at theplanned depthIf you fail to confi rm the change of gas mixturewithin the 30 seconds of when Galileosuggested it, the gas mixture in question isexcluded from the decompression calculationand the decompression schedule is adaptedaccordingly.- If you had programmed 3 gases, youwere on T1 and you did not switchto T2 when Galileo suggested it, T2is excluded from the calculations, thedecompression schedule is adapted andGalileo continues with T1 and TD only.- If you had programmed 3 gases, youwere on T2 and you did not switchto TD when Galileo suggested it, TDis excluded from the calculations, thedecompression schedule is adaptedand Galileo continues with T2 only.- If you had programmed 2 gases, andyou did not switch to TD when Galileosuggested it, the decompressionschedule is adapted to refl ect the use ofT1 only.Galileo alerts you of the change in thedecompression calculation by displayingthe message EXCLUDING GAS T2(or TD) for 4 seconds.64
