The release can, in fact, be used for eitherof these two applications. Given the characteristics of the <strong>circuit</strong>-breaker operating mechanism,opening (with the <strong>circuit</strong>-breaker closed) is always possible, whereas closing is onlypossible when the closing springs are charged. The release can operate with direct current oralternating current. This release provides instantaneous operation (1) , but can be powered permanently(2) .Some installations require very high safety in controlling <strong>circuit</strong>-breaker opening remotely. Inparticular, the control and opening release <strong>circuit</strong>s must be duplicated. To meet these needs,SACE <strong>Emax</strong> <strong>circuit</strong>-<strong>breakers</strong> can be equipped with a second shunt opening trip unit, fitted witha special support to hold it, that can house the standard shunt closing and opening releases.The seat of the second shunt opening release is that of the under<strong>voltage</strong> release, which istherefore incompatible with this type of installation.
