Communication devices and systemsSD-View 2000SD-View 2000 is a “ready-to-use” system, consisting of software for personal computers, in standardconfiguration, which allows complete control of the low voltage electrical installation.Putting the SD-View 2000 system into operation is quick and easy. In fact, the software itselfguides the user in recognising and configuring the protection units.The user only needs knowledge of the installation (such as how many circuit-breakers are installedand how they are connected to each other). No engineering work on the supervisionsystem is required, since all the pages displayed are already configured in the system, ready tobe used.Usage of the software is intuitive and easy to learn for the operator: SD-View 2000 has graphicpages based on Internet Explorer, which make the system as simple to manage as surfing on theInternet.4System architectureSystem architecture is based on the latest developments in personal computer and industrialcommunication network technology.The ABB SACE devices are connected to the serial bus RS485 Modbus. A maximum of 31devices can be connected to a bus. A maximum of 4 serial bus can lines be connected to apersonal computer which works as data server, reading and storing the data received from thedevices. The server is also used as the operator station, from where the data can be displayedand printed, commands can be sent to the devices, and all the operations needed to managethe installation can be carried out.The server can be connected to a local network together with other personal computers whichwork as additional operator stations (clients).
