Putting Degrees in Reach for All Students
for the
Past, present and future SAIS students come from
across the country and around the world. Potential
comes from every background imaginable, but
resources do not, unfortunately.
With that in mind, Leaders for the Future is
SAIS’s ongoing initiative to ensure our financial aid resources
meet the needs of our promising students. In 2011, SAIS
raised $4,214,275 in fellowship support, including $2 million
in current-use gifts—to be expended within the next few
years—and $2.2 million added to the endowment to provide
fellowship income for many
years to come.
Some of the gifts are highlighted
on the following pages. Additional
gifts include a full two-year fellowship
from the Forster Family
Foundation; major contributions to
endowed fellowships from Robert
Carr B’64, ’64, Tom Kearney ’91,
Lee Kempler ’91, Joe Lipscomb ’91
and Paul Liu ’86; and the establishment
of a second Student Revolving
Loan Fund underwritten by John
McGillian JHU’74.
