3 MountingThe Protege Controller is supplied as a PCB only (printed circuit board). We recommend that gear plate styleenclosures are used wherever possible, as this provides the best mounting and installation solution as well asthe required cable entry and termination space.When installing the Controller ensure that there is adequate clearance around all sides of the cabinet enclosureand air flow to the vents of the enclosure are not restricted.It is recommended the Controller is installed in a location that will facilitate easy access for wiring. It is alsorecommended that the Controller be installed in electrical rooms, communication equipment rooms, closets orin an accessible area of the ceiling.Step 1Insert the plastic standoffs into the locations to mount the PCB board.Step 2Calculate the location and position of the cabinet enclosure and mark the holes for the keyhole points in the topleft and right locations. This will enable you to fasten the screws and then hang the box on them adjusting thelocation to suit.Step 3Ensure a solid fixing point and fasten the two screws. Before tightening the top screws, insert the tamperbracket in the slot provided on the right side of the cabinet enclosure.Step 4Fix the cabinet enclosure securely using the remaining mounting holes on the bottom left, right and centre of thecabinet enclosure.Step 5If you are extending the Protege Controller by the addition of a communications module or memory interface,insert the 4 extended nylon standoffs through the rear of the Controller.Step 6Insert the PCB into the cabinet enclosure and mount using the plastic standoffs inserted during step 1.iTo reduce the risk of damage caused by debris during the installation, install the cabinet enclosurewhen the circuit board is not installed on the plastic standoffs.PRT-CTRL-SE Protege SE Integrated System Controller Installation Manual | March 2013 7
