13.2 Working with image platesImage plates must be visibly checked for signsof damage. Damaged image plates (e.g. a tornouter layer, or visible scratches, which will affectthe diagnostic assessment) must be replaced.• image plates are flexible like X-ray film.• do not bend or subject to pressure.• do not scratch or get dirty.• do not put in an autoclaveEN613.3 Storingimage plates• store image plates in a dark place.• do not store in hot or moist conditions.• store intraoral image plates in a light protectioncover of the appropriate size.• if an image plate is stored for longer than 24hours, then it should be erased again beforethe next X-ray exposure. See scetion 19.5• protect from direct sunlight and ultravioletbeams.• if stored in the X-ray room itself then theimage plates must be protected from preexposurecaused by X-ray radiation.720
