While building new foundationsfor a neighbourhood policy, it is difficult to act as if we did notnotice the heritage of tough and painful issues, which were left byour history.As a result, prejudice, aggression and fear are present in public life,which were not suppressed by their social structure transformationprocess and formation of new countries . They were not eithersuppressed by globalisation, new migration process and increasingcultural diversity, taking the form of cultural conflicts.The idea of community and life lived together becomes a greatchallenge for postmodern societies. The role of culture should beessential, but multicultural projects failures and Western culturalconflicts are what we hear about. How to turn culture into authentic,not made up and imposed by other ideologies element ofsocial, European and civil integration? He is the co-founderof the art collective Slavs andTatars and has lectured at variousinstitutions, including theRoyal College of Art and theICA in London, The RietveldAcademy in Amsterdam, andthe University of Tehran. Hiswriting has been featured inseveral publications in Europe,North America and Asia. Since2007 he has been a contributingeditor to 032c magazine.
