List of <strong>Abstracts</strong> 172Customised tools have been developed in R to assess European trace gas trends. Long-term and seasonaltrends have been characterised at all sites using loess regression. Additionally, ozone was deseasonalised andlinear trends were quantified for monthly means, 5th and 95th percentiles (to illustrate changes in mean,background and peak concentrations respectively). Linear trends for seasonal ozone means were quantifiedin a similar manner.With the introduction of national and European legislation over the past 20 years, and the modernisation orremoval of industrial sources, European ozone precursor emissions have resulted in significant reductions inozone since the 1980's. However, between 1995-2006 analysis of ozone 5th and 95th percentiles(representing background and peak levels, respectively) show that the majority of sites in central andnorthwestern Europe have increased with a range of 0.11-0.67 ppbv/yr and 0.19-0.64 ppbv/yr, respectively(significance p
