Make sure the burner p<strong>or</strong>ting, pilot airopening and burner air opening are free of obstructionsat all times.Pilot FlameThe flames from the pilot should be visually checked assoon as the heater is installed and periodically duringn<strong>or</strong>mal operation. The pilot flame must always be presentwhen the fireplace is in operation. Figure 64. Thepilot flame has three distinct flames, one engulfing thethermopile, one engulfing the thermocouple <strong>or</strong> sens<strong>or</strong>, andthe other reaching to the main burner.burnerInspect area around the inject<strong>or</strong>. Remove any lint <strong>or</strong> f<strong>or</strong>eignmaterial with a brush <strong>or</strong> vacuum.Burner FlameThe flames from the burner should be visually checkedas soon as the heater is installed and periodically duringn<strong>or</strong>mal operation. In n<strong>or</strong>mal operation, at fullrate, and after operating f<strong>or</strong> about 15 to 30minutes, the flame should be yellow and slightlytaller than the rear log. Figure 65If the flame is blue and only in the center, turnoff unit and let cool. After unit is cool, removelogs and check to make sure rock wool isplaced c<strong>or</strong>rectly.
