Researching and understanding the
effects of technology requires the capability
of modeling real world scenarios
based on real world technical infrastructures.
Within our living lab we have established
a multivendor environment
which allows both rapid prototyping of
integrated use case scenarios and providing
a pilot environment for enterprises
working with us on specific research
questions on communication & collaboration
and social networking.
Living up to the idea of smarter work,
the lab is organized as a distributed environment
across our research partner
universities and technology partners.
Furthermore, the living lab environment
is used for teaching in order to ensure
that students experience hands-on the
potential of UCC and social networking
technologies.
Researchers and students work together
in the living lab, building prototypes
and analyzing the functional integration
of UCC and Social Media capabilities in
multi vendor environments. Among other
technologies, the Center hosts Jive
and Lotus Connections as well as Open
Source platforms (e.g. collaborative 3Denvironment
OpenSim). Currently we
are working on the integration of Skype
