New ERCIS
Website launched
During the last year, the ERCIS website
has been completely reworked. Basing
on the university-wide used content
management system (CMS) Imperia, the
website could not be opened to grant
writable access to users outside the university.
Because of this, only the headquarters
was able to keep the website
up-to-date and disseminate its research
results or news. It is, however, one of
the most important issues for future ER-
CIS cooperation, that all participants get
the chance to contribute to the website,
generate content and explicate their research
results in terms of e.g., sending
newsletters, adding research projects, or
publications.
The Open Source CMS Drupal is perfectly
suitable for supporting these requirements,
as it is shipped very slim, built in
a modular way, and provides myriads of
user developed modules. Due to a very
large and active community behind it, its

One of the great challenges for European
governments is solving the paradox of
increasing security of international trade,
while at the same time reducing the
administrative overhead for commercial

for businesses and public
administrations. Finding the right balance between control and cost of information
gathering is the key to increase competitiveness of European businesses locally,
nationally and internationally.
ITAIDE develops a Common Information Model for electronic documents and document
mapping software to improve the pan-European interoperability of taxation and
customs systems. This interoperability is an essential prerequisite to achieve strategic
goals for e-customs such as the introduction of Authorised Economic Operator and
Single Window Access service provisioning for businesses.
