Over half of olderperson only households are owner-occupiers. The overwhelming majority of these do not have amortgage. This finding suggests that the potential for equity release schemes in the City ofWestminster is quite high.Another significant finding is the relatively high proportion of social rented accommodationcontaining older people only (24.2%). A three-bedroom home is the most common property size for olderperson only households. Given that previous information has shown that most older person onlyhouseholds are comprised of only one or two persons, this finding suggests that there could bepotential scope to free up larger units for younger families if the older households chose to moveinto suitable smaller units.PAGE 131
