7. Backlog of existing needThe table below shows the unsuitable housing categories by tenure. The table indicates that 42.7%of overcrowded households are resident in private rented accommodation. The table also indicatesthat households suffering from harassment are particularly likely to be living in rentedaccommodation. The data shows that lone parent households are particularly likely to be inunsuitable housing. Households containing two adults and no children and households containingtwo adults and at least two children showed the lowest levels of unsuitable housing. By sub-areathere are also some significant differences. Levels of unsuitable housing vary from 17.7% in theNorth to 2.1% in South Central.PAGE 71
