Matt is survived by his three children agedbetween 9 – 13 years.A service to celebrate the life of Matt was held at Kerikeri on 9 September 2009 anda number of NRC staff attended.Matt had completed five years service having commenced employment on16 February 2004. Prior to this Matt worked as a self employed Consultant for theFar North District Council. Matt had a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) – 1 st ClassHonours.Matt was an experienced and valued member of staff and in addition to hisenvironmental monitoring role which included enforcement, he was also a trainedapproved Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (HSNO) Officer and trained inOil Spill Response.Matt will be missed.
