enrollment and admissionEnrollmentVice Provost for EnrollmentThe vice provost for enrollment is responsible for the <strong>of</strong>fices andprocedures which serve students in the recruitment, admissions andenrollment processes at the <strong>College</strong>. Working collaboratively with colleaguesin academic and student affairs, the vice provost spearheads andcoordinates institution-wide retention efforts. To better understand theneeds <strong>of</strong> students and to assist the <strong>College</strong> in its assessment and planningefforts, Enrollment Services gathers and reports on institutional data. The<strong>of</strong>fices and functions included within Enrollment Services are admissions,college communications, financial aid, the registrar, articulation andtransfer, institutional research, international recruitment and admissions,and retention services.RegistrarThe registrar is responsible for creating and managing registration functionswhich serve members <strong>of</strong> the academic community in the enrollmentprocess. In this role, the registrar is responsible for the following registrarialfunctions: academic records (issuance <strong>of</strong> transcripts and grades,grading policies); enrollment (preregistration and registration procedures,leave <strong>of</strong> absence, withdrawal from school, verification <strong>of</strong> enrollment,progress toward the degree (academic probation, petitions for specialaction, declarations <strong>of</strong> majors and minors); determination <strong>of</strong> degreerequirements (graduation candidacy, granting <strong>of</strong> degrees, academic evaluations);and the academic calendar (class schedule, room assignments,final examination schedule).Articulation and TransferThe director <strong>of</strong> articulation and transfer serves as the institutionaladvocate for the articulation and transfer <strong>of</strong> courses at <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s<strong>College</strong>. In this role the director is responsible for developing, updatingand maintaining articulation agreements between the <strong>College</strong> andcommunity colleges and appropriate independent junior colleges. Thedirector is an important liaison with community colleges. The directorprovides advanced standing evaluations for new enrolling transferstudents as well as preliminary advanced standing evaluations for transferstudents applying to or accepted at the <strong>College</strong>. The director is alsoresponsible for evaluating students’ petitions for readmission to the<strong>College</strong>. In addition, the director ensures that the needs and concerns <strong>of</strong>transfer students are adequately addressed in the orientation program,residence life policies and procedures, academic requirements, registrationprocedures and financial aid.13
