Student LifeThe Associated Students <strong>of</strong><strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s <strong>College</strong> (ASSMC)The ASSMC is the <strong>of</strong>ficial student government, representing the traditionalundergraduate student body <strong>of</strong> <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s <strong>College</strong>. As a cooperativecampus organization based on mutual confidence among students,faculty, and administration, the ASSMC constitution, bylaws and fiscalallocations are subject to review and approval by Student Involvementand Leadership. The administrative structure <strong>of</strong> ASSMC includes theelected Executive Council (President, Vice President for Administration,Vice President for Finance, and Vice President for Student Affairs) and anelected Student Senate comprised <strong>of</strong> Class Presidents, Vice Presidentsand Senators. In partnership with SIL, the ASSMC charters, supports andfunds over 30 student organizations including Campus Activities Board(CAB) and ASSMC Enlivenment.Student OrganizationsThe diversity <strong>of</strong> <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s clubs and organizations reflects the interestsand commitments <strong>of</strong> our student population. Currently, there aremore than forty registered organizations with members who are activelypursuing their academic, social, cultural, athletic, pr<strong>of</strong>essional, service andunique special interests through student organizations and clubs. Overall, the InterculturalCenter’s co-curricular programs and support services are designed toexplore the broad definition <strong>of</strong> culture and affirm the human worth <strong>of</strong>all individuals.Women’s Resource CenterThe Women’s Resource Center is dedicated to creating a campusenvironment that empowers women to envision and engage in a lifethat maximizes their academic, personal and spiritual growth. The centerenhances students’ experiences by fostering a supportive and inclusiveenvironment for all while promoting and practicing acceptance andcollaboration and providing relevant programming.Public SafetyPublic Safety is responsible for safety and security programs, crimeprevention, parking control and escort services on campus property.Public Safety <strong>of</strong>ficers patrol the campus; respond to reports <strong>of</strong> crimes,fire alarms, medical emergencies and requests for assistance; andenforce campus traffic and parking regulations. While the Moraga PoliceDepartment is the <strong>of</strong>ficial governmental law enforcement agency for ourcampus, the Department <strong>of</strong> Public Safety, as a non-sworn security organization,provides the day-to-day, 24-hour security and safety presence oncampus. The <strong>College</strong> requests that all crimes be reported to the Department<strong>of</strong> Public Safety. While the Department <strong>of</strong> Public Safety contactsthe Moraga Police Department for further investigation and follow-up oncriminal matters as appropriate, all victims <strong>of</strong> crimes retain the right tocontact the Moraga Police Department directly for any criminal matter.As provided by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure <strong>of</strong> Campus Security Policyand Campus Crime Statistics Act <strong>of</strong> 1998, <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>California</strong>,through its Department <strong>of</strong> Public Safety, annually provides noticeand makes available copies <strong>of</strong> the Annual Security Report to the campuscommunity, prospective students, employees and the public. Each SecurityReport includes statistics for the past three years concerning crimesand incidents (whether they occurred on campus, in <strong>of</strong>f-campus buildingand property owned or controlled by the <strong>College</strong>, or on public propertyadjacent to campus) reported to campus security authorities. EachSecurity Report also provides campus policies and practices concerningsecurity — how to report sexual assaults and other crimes, crime preventionefforts, policies/laws governing alcohol and drugs, victims’ assistanceprograms, student discipline, college resources and other matters.
