Tuition and FeesMonthly Payment PlanInformation on a monthly prepayment plan for <strong>College</strong> expenses isavailable at smcnet.stmarys-ca.edu/payment.RefundsRefunds are made within 30 days <strong>of</strong> request only once each term, on thewritten application <strong>of</strong> the student, according to the following schedule:TuitionDropping Classes: Students may drop a course and, where appropriate,receive full pro-rata refund <strong>of</strong> tuition up to the end <strong>of</strong> the second fullweek <strong>of</strong> the term. (No refund will be made after that date.) Note thatfull tuition is charged for 7.00 to 9.50 course credits per year. For theJanuary Term, the drop period is through the third day <strong>of</strong> the term.Withdrawal from <strong>College</strong>: Refunds are made each term only on thewritten application <strong>of</strong> the withdrawing student according to the followingschedule: 85% tuition refund to the end <strong>of</strong> the first week <strong>of</strong> class; 80%tuition refund to the end <strong>of</strong> the second week <strong>of</strong> class; 75% tuition refundto the end <strong>of</strong> the fourth week <strong>of</strong> class.No refund will be made for withdrawal after the fourth week <strong>of</strong> class.The above schedule is based upon the date on which the <strong>of</strong>ficial notice<strong>of</strong> withdrawal is given to the registrar. For those who pay for JanuaryTerm, no refund is made after the first week <strong>of</strong> class.Room and BoardStudents who live in <strong>College</strong> residence halls and townhouses assumecontractual responsibility for occupancy for the entire academic year.Students who live in a <strong>College</strong> residence hall are required to contract formeals. Students living in the <strong>College</strong> townhouses may voluntarily elect topurchase one <strong>of</strong> the various meal options provided.Inquiries concerning room and board plans should be directed to theOffice <strong>of</strong> Residence Life.Student InsuranceTo ensure that all students have health insurance coverage, includingbasic sickness and accident insurance, the <strong>College</strong> has instituted amandatory health insurance requirement. All undergraduate studentsenrolled in three or more courses each term are required to have healthinsurance coverage. A plan is available through <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s <strong>College</strong>;consequently, students are billed for insurance. A credit is applied to theaccount upon completion <strong>of</strong> a waiver form. The waiver is found online atwww.chickering.com. A waiver must be completed each academic yearin order to receive the credit.All full-time undergraduate students are covered by a secondary accidentinsurance policy that provides protection during regular attendance onthe campus and while attending college-sponsored activities. The policycovers only accidents and should not be considered to be a replacementfor a comprehensive health insurance program.
