tuition and fees<strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s <strong>College</strong> is an independent institution and receives nooperating support from public funds. Each student is charged a tuitionfee that covers approximately three-fourths <strong>of</strong> the cost <strong>of</strong> generaleducational services provided by the <strong>College</strong>. The balance <strong>of</strong> these costsis met by income from endowment, support <strong>of</strong> the Brothers <strong>of</strong> theChristian Schools, and gifts from trustees, parents, alumni, other friends,corporations and foundations interested in the type <strong>of</strong> education thisinstitution provides.Graduate ProgramsSee separate bulletins.PaymentAll <strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s <strong>College</strong> (SMC) students assume financial responsibilityfor any charges and/or fees posted to his/her account. All SMC studentsfurther assume the responsibility for understanding SMC’s <strong>of</strong>ficial policiesconcerning payment deadlines, registration deadlines and satisfactoryacademic progress.Tuition and room and board charges are due in two installments. Thecharges are due one month before the first day <strong>of</strong> class <strong>of</strong> each term.Lab fees, extra course charges and other miscellaneous fees are billed asincurred during the academic year. All such charges are due and payableupon receipt <strong>of</strong> a statement from the Business Office. A student failingto make payment will be denied registration and will be unable to attendclass or use campus facilities. Participation in commencement exerciseswill not be allowed, nor will a diploma, transcript <strong>of</strong> credit, or honorabledismissal be issued until all <strong>College</strong> bills have been paid in full. Transcriptswill not be issued to former students with past-due balances, includingpast-due balances on National Direct Student or Perkins Loans. <strong>Saint</strong>Mary’s <strong>College</strong> further reserves the right to recover all costs involvedwith collection due to nonpayment <strong>of</strong> the outstanding balance.16
