Student ServicesLiturgy and PrayerThe expression <strong>of</strong> the faith life <strong>of</strong> the campus, as well as the Catholicsacramental life, is given expression through the Liturgy and Prayerprograms and experiences <strong>of</strong> the Mission and Ministry Center. Weactively seek ways to nurture the liturgical life <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> Communityfoster opportunities for spiritual development and prayer experiences.Weekday and Sunday Masses, as well as <strong>College</strong> liturgies, provide avisible witness to the Catholic identity and sacramental life <strong>of</strong> the<strong>College</strong> community.Catholic Institute forLasallian Social Action (CILSA)The Catholic Institute for Lasallian Social Action (CILSA) promotes, organizes,and supports service on behalf <strong>of</strong> social justice by members <strong>of</strong> the<strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s community. Over the past year, more than 1,000 studentscontributed approximately 48,700 hours <strong>of</strong> service in the local community,at the state level and internationally. Projects included one-time andongoing volunteer experiences, course-based social action, and longtermplacements such as AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and Lasallian Volunteers.Residential Ministry<strong>Saint</strong> Mary’s <strong>College</strong> provides intentional opportunities for studentsto build and experience community. Certainly, the residence halls andthe many students who reside on campus have experienced this andgiven community authentic expression. Residential Ministry within theMission and Ministry Center includes the Lasallian Living Community inBecket Hall and the Santiago Community in Ageno West Hall, as well asoutreach to all students in the residence halls through partnerships withthe Office <strong>of</strong> Residence Life, Resident Advisors, Resident Directors, andother departments on campus.Retreats and VocationOpportunities for time to reflect, pray, and build community are animportant aspect <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> Community. The Mission and MinistryCenter is committed to the development <strong>of</strong> a yearly retreat series thatincludes retreats such as the annual fall New Student Retreat, a SeniorRetreat, Meditation Retreat, and other thematic retreats. Attentiveto the call by God that each <strong>of</strong> us has been given, opportunities toreflect, pray, and discuss our God’s presence and call in our lives happenthrough opportunities for discernment, prayer and discussion groups.The consideration <strong>of</strong> post-graduate volunteer opportunities, such as theLasallian Volunteer Program, is a viable possibility for many students.For more information on social action opportunities, stop by the CILSAfirst floor Ferroggiaro <strong>of</strong>fice, or call (925)634-4975 to schedule anappointment. CILSA staff will assist you in finding a service opportunitythat matches your interests.Events and ConferencesEvents and Conferences serves the campus community by providing avariety <strong>of</strong> environments for curricular and co-curricular learning, recreation,and cultural events. Students, faculty, and related <strong>College</strong> departmentsmay arrange for the use <strong>of</strong> campus facilities through this <strong>of</strong>ficefor event programming needs.
