and absences, both short term and permanent, as well as rules for how to deal<strong>with</strong> postponing appointments, etc. 18The aim of equal participation of all participants can be consideredsuccessful if immediate solutions can be found for needs, irritations, ordisappointments as <strong>the</strong>y arise, and thus prevent <strong>the</strong>m from hindering <strong>the</strong> lessonor exercise. When prompt attention is paid to <strong>the</strong> causes of “disturbances” and“disappointments” and when participants are encouraged to articulate <strong>the</strong>irindividual needs immediately, it is possible to quickly discover <strong>the</strong> cause of <strong>the</strong>interruption in <strong>the</strong> learning process and to find an immediate solution. Thesecases concern specific problems which teachers should not ignore <strong>with</strong>outcomment. Most such problems can often be solved merely by acknowledging<strong>the</strong>m. In many cases, requests articulated by an individual also concern o<strong>the</strong>rmembers of <strong>the</strong> group. 19Integrating <strong>the</strong> personal life experiences of women and men, and inparticular of <strong>the</strong> participating male and female students, increases mutual tolerance,understanding and variety. The variation of learning forms creates spacefor reflection over one’s own life experience. From <strong>the</strong> point of view of gendersensitivedidactics, it is relevant to include individual life experiences. Anyo<strong>new</strong>ho manages to integrate personal life contexts into a learning situation ismuch more present as a person than someone who limits to mere contenttransfer. Individual exchanges give people more appreciation for and interestin each o<strong>the</strong>r. What is more, considering individual perspectives helps to makeclear <strong>the</strong> impact of gender-specific socialization on life experiences. 20Possible gains and insights for <strong>the</strong> participantsIn this section, we describe <strong>the</strong> methods used for <strong>the</strong> workshop in January2008.
