Implementing the proposed uses on the Taylor MountainPreserve would not result in substantial new light or glare. Only the following low-level securitylighting would be provided at some of the staging areas, as the Preserve will be closed at night(with the exception of limited camping at designated sites): Petaluma Hill Road: Security lighting (motion-detected shielded lights) at restrooms instaging area (no lighting at portable toilets at camping area); Barn Area: Security lighting (motion-detected shielded lights) at restrooms <strong>and</strong> barndoorway; Kawana Springs Resort: Security lighting at restrooms <strong>and</strong> at building entrances <strong>and</strong> darkareas, wayfinding lights at parking area, along paths to visitor center, hotel, <strong>and</strong> camping (offat 10 pm). S162 requires that any special event lighting be minimized <strong>and</strong> limited to specifickey areas. Farmers Lane: Low level security lighting at the parking lot.Master Plan guidelines require lighting to be shielded to prevent nighttime lighting <strong>and</strong> glareeffects on neighboring properties <strong>and</strong> to protect nighttime views. Some day time glare couldoccur from the additional automobiles visible from adjacent residences <strong>and</strong> roadways. Glarewould generally occur as the afternoon sun hits the cars; however, views of the staging areaswould be largely screened by existing topographic features <strong>and</strong> vegetation. Furthermore,parked cars are a common occurrence throughout the adjacent residential neighborhood <strong>and</strong>at <strong>Sonoma</strong> Academy.
