Would the project create a significant hazard to the public or the environment throughreasonably foreseeable upset <strong>and</strong> accident conditions involving the release of hazardousmaterials into the environment?LESS THAN SIGNIFICANT. Implementation of the Master Plan would not involve the use orstorage of hazardous materials other than very small amounts of pesticides or herbicides. Asnoted above, the use of such products is highly regulated by federal <strong>and</strong> state laws, ensuringsafe h<strong>and</strong>ling <strong>and</strong> minimization of potential hazards to the public or the environment.c. Would the project emit hazardous emissions or h<strong>and</strong>le hazardous or acutely hazardousmaterials, substances, or waste within one-quarter mile of an existing or proposed school?NO IMPACT. The <strong>Sonoma</strong> Academy property is within ¼ mile of the Preserve, however alloweduses on the Taylor Mountain Preserve would not have the potential to result in hazardousemissions or involve the h<strong>and</strong>ling of hazardous materials, other than extremely limited use ofpesticides <strong>and</strong> herbicides.d. Would the project be located on a site that is included on a list of hazardous materialssites compiled pursuant to Government Code Section 65962.5 <strong>and</strong>, as a result, would itcreate a significant hazard to the public or the environment?NO IMPACT. Review of existing database sources indicates that there are no sites in the projectvicinity listed on the Department of Toxic Substances Control Hazardous Waste <strong>and</strong> SubstancesList (Cortese List).e. For a project located within an airport l<strong>and</strong> use plan or, where such a plan has not beenadopted, within two miles of a public airport or public use airport, would the project resultin a safety hazard for people residing or working in the project area?NO IMPACT. The project site is not located within two miles of a public airport or within anairport l<strong>and</strong> use plan. The Charles M. Schulz <strong>Sonoma</strong> <strong>County</strong> Airport is more than nine milesfrom the proposed project site.f. For a project within the vicinity of a private airstrip, would the project result in a safetyhazard for people residing or working in the project area?NO IMPACT. The property is not located within the vicinity of a private airstrip.g. Would the project impair implementation of or physically interfere with an adoptedemergency response plan or emergency evacuation plan?LESS THAN SIGNIFICANT. Implementation of the Master Plan would not interfere with adoptedemergency response or evacuation plans for the area. Accesses to the Preserve will be distributedaround the property’s perimeter, facilitating the movement of vehicles <strong>and</strong> minimizing effects onsurrounding l<strong>and</strong> uses. For emergency response on the property itself, emergency responderswould have access through all gates. Staging areas would meet the <strong>Sonoma</strong> <strong>County</strong> Fire SafeSt<strong>and</strong>ards related to driveway width, slope <strong>and</strong> access gates. The Master Plan includesprovision <strong>and</strong> maintenance of emergency routes across the park property. See Section B.3.14,Transportation, for additional details on emergency access to <strong>and</strong> within the project site.September 2012 B-77 Final
