It will equipyou for a career in businessand administration.Course modulesYou will enrol on an hnc/hnd inthe first instance, the hnc takingtwo years and the hnd three yearsof study. As this is an integratedprogramme of study, you will ‘top-up’to a degree and still complete itwithin four years. It is also possible to‘top-up’ to an honours degree with anhnc or hnd in Business from otherrecognised institutions.This is a four year course. In the firsttwo (hnc) you are introduced to keybusiness concepts through modulesabout the business environment,communication, accounting,understanding organisations andmarketing. Develop professionalskills such as analysis, team working,problem solving, report writing, oralpresentations, time management andproject management.The third year (hnd) continues todevelop your knowledge of businessand professional skills with modulessuch as Contemporary Managementand Operations, Human ResourceManagement, Brand Management,Business Law, and Measuring thePerformance of Organisations(Accounting).The fourth year (BA Hons) evaluatesbusiness activity through modulessuch as Strategic Management,Contemporary Business Issues anda dissertation in which you engage inindependent research on a subject ofyour own choosing.Part-time study includes attendanceat dmu on Tuesday and Thursdayevenings during term-time andsome distance learning over thesummer period.Teaching and AssessmentTeaching will be in small classesthrough lectures, seminars, groupwork and self-directed study, eachdesigned to build on your motivationand commitment, and your workexperience.
