ArchitECture (PEDR)SPSAbout the courseYou are required to havecompleted a ProfessionalExperience and DevelopmentRecord (PEDR) in order to beeligible to sit the RIBA/ARBPart 3 exam in architecture andregister as an architect in the UKAt DMU, the PEDR is containedwithin a PEDR programme;you must enrol on the PEDRprogramme if you want PEDRsheets endorsed by a DMUprofessional studiesadvisor (PSA)You will use the online RoyalInstitute of British Architects(RIBA) PEDR sheets to monitorand evaluate your experience inarchitectural practice under thesupervision of a qualified person,called your employment mentor(from the practice)You will be allocated a PSAwho will receive, evaluate andendorse, by signature, your PEDRsheets which will make themvalid as evidence of professionalexperience for the purposes ofeligibility for the Part 3 examYou may enrol on the PEDRprogramme before startingthe MArch (RIBA/ARB Part2) course provided you havea valid Part 1 qualification orconcurrently with the part-timeMArch course or after you havecompleted the MArch course.You will automatically be enrolledon the PEDR programme if youstart the Postgraduate Diplomain Architectural Practice (RIBA/ARB Part 3) course providedyou have valid Part 1 and Part 2qualifications, and have alreadyobtained four suitably endorsedPEDR sheetsCourse modulesYou are required to undertake 24months’ work experience, a minimumof 12 months of which must bepost-Part 2 (normally completedalongside the PG Dip). The PEDRprogramme is an inspection, adviceand endorsement service for PEDRsheets. There should be one PEDRsheet for each three months ofexperience in practice, and you willneed eight completed and endorsedPEDR sheets before you sit the Part3 exam. Attendance is not requiredas all documentation is submittedonline. Enrolment lasts up to sixyears or until a candidate has eightPEDR sheets endorsed, whichever isthe sooner.Teaching and asseSSMentThere is no formal teaching. Youare required to gain experience inarchitectural practice. You will beassessed via the RIBA nationalonline PEDR document service andsupervised by your employmentmentor in practice and a PSA fromthe Leicester School of Architecture.ExpertiseThe Leicester School of Architecturehas a high proportion of practisingarchitects who are experts in currentissues concerning architecturalemployment.
