ArchitECture (PEDR)SPSAbout <strong>the</strong> courseYou are required to havecompleted a ProfessionalExperience and DevelopmentRecord (PEDR) <strong>in</strong> order to beeligible to sit <strong>the</strong> RIBA/ARBPart 3 exam <strong>in</strong> architecture andregister as an architect <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>UK</strong>At DMU, <strong>the</strong> PEDR is conta<strong>in</strong>edwith<strong>in</strong> a PEDR programme;you must enrol on <strong>the</strong> PEDRprogramme if you want PEDRsheets endorsed by a DMUprofessional studiesadvisor (PSA)You will use <strong>the</strong> onl<strong>in</strong>e RoyalInstitute of British Architects(RIBA) PEDR sheets to monitorand evaluate your experience <strong>in</strong>architectural practice under <strong>the</strong>supervision of a qualified person,called your employment mentor(from <strong>the</strong> practice)You will be allocated a PSAwho will receive, evaluate andendorse, by signature, your PEDRsheets which will make <strong>the</strong>mvalid as evidence of professionalexperience for <strong>the</strong> purposes ofeligibility for <strong>the</strong> Part 3 examYou may enrol on <strong>the</strong> PEDRprogramme before start<strong>in</strong>g<strong>the</strong> MArch (RIBA/ARB Part2) course provided you havea valid Part 1 qualification orconcurrently with <strong>the</strong> part-timeMArch course or after you havecompleted <strong>the</strong> MArch course.You will automatically be enrolledon <strong>the</strong> PEDR programme if youstart <strong>the</strong> Postgraduate Diploma<strong>in</strong> Architectural Practice (RIBA/ARB Part 3) course providedyou have valid Part 1 and Part 2qualifications, and have alreadyobta<strong>in</strong>ed four suitably endorsedPEDR sheetsCourse modulesYou are required to undertake 24months’ work experience, a m<strong>in</strong>imumof 12 months of which must bepost-Part 2 (normally completedalongside <strong>the</strong> PG Dip). The PEDRprogramme is an <strong>in</strong>spection, adviceand endorsement service for PEDRsheets. There should be one PEDRsheet for each three months ofexperience <strong>in</strong> practice, and you willneed eight completed and endorsedPEDR sheets before you sit <strong>the</strong> Part3 exam. Attendance is not requiredas all documentation is submittedonl<strong>in</strong>e. Enrolment lasts up to sixyears or until a candidate has eightPEDR sheets endorsed, whichever is<strong>the</strong> sooner.Teach<strong>in</strong>g and asseSSMentThere is no formal teach<strong>in</strong>g. Youare required to ga<strong>in</strong> experience <strong>in</strong>architectural practice. You will beassessed via <strong>the</strong> RIBA nationalonl<strong>in</strong>e PEDR document service andsupervised by your employmentmentor <strong>in</strong> practice and a PSA from<strong>the</strong> Leicester School of Architecture.ExpertiseThe Leicester School of Architecturehas a high proportion of practis<strong>in</strong>garchitects who are experts <strong>in</strong> currentissues concern<strong>in</strong>g architecturalemployment.
