In Example 8-42 we display the progress of all out-of-sync mirrors. If a mirror has reached100% it is not listed unless we specify that particular VDisk.Example 8-42 Displaying all VDisk mirrorsIBM_2145:SVCCLUSTER_DC1:admin>svcinfo lsvdisksyncprogressvdisk_id vdisk_name copy_id progress estimated_completion_time21 arielle_8 1 42 09110519365624 mitchell_17 1 83 09110518543232 sharon_1 1 3 091106083130If copying is going too slowly, you could choose set a higher syncrate when you create thecopy. You can also increase the syncrate from the default value of 50 (which equals 2 MBps) to 100(which equals 64 MBps). This change affects the VDisk itself and isvalid for any future copies.Example 8-43 shows the syntax.Example 8-43 Changing the VDisk sync rateIBM_2145:SVCSTGDEMO:admin>svctask chvdisk -syncrate 100 5Once the estimated completion time passes, we can confirm that the copy process iscomplete for VDisk 5. In Example 8-44 the sync is complete.Example 8-44 VDisk sync completedIBM_2145:SVCSTGDEMO:admin>svcinfo lsvdisksyncprogress 5vdisk_id vdisk_name copy_id progress estimated_completion_time5 migrateme 0 1005 migrateme 1 1008.9.5 Validating a VDisk copyIf you want to confirm that the data between the two VDisk copies is the same, you can run avalidate. This compares the two copies. The command itself completes immediately, but thevalidate runs in the background. In Example 8-45 a validate against VDisk 5 is started andthen monitored until it is complete. This validation step is not mandatory and is normally onlyneeded if an event occurred that makes you doubt the validity of the mirror. It is documentedhere in case you want to add an extra layer of certainty to your change.Example 8-45 Validating a VDisk mirrorIBM_2145:SVCSTGDEMO:admin>svctask repairvdiskcopy -validate 5IBM_2145:SVCSTGDEMO:admin>svcinfo lsrepairvdiskcopyprogress 5vdisk_id vdisk_name copy_id task progress est_completion5 migrateme 0 validate 57 0911031559275 migrateme 1 validate 57 091103155927IBM_2145:SVCSTGDEMO:admin>svcinfo lsrepairvdiskcopyprogress 5vdisk_id vdisk_name copy_id task progress est_completion5 migrateme 05 migrateme 1266 IBM XIV Storage System: Copy Services and Migration
