All papers still await acceptance.Research in progressTwo lecturers are conducting separate self-fundedresearch studies on the quality of assessment in Scienceand Mathematics Swaziland primary and secondaryschools. These studies were stimulated by the SwazilandExaminations Council in preparation for their conference.Both studies address the issue of quality in education inline with the research themes that were submitted to theUNISWA Research Board.PUBLICATIONSInternational JournalsSeven papers were published in international journals.These were on using real life situations in teachingmathematics in three SADC countries, attitudes of primaryschool teachers towards early childhood development inZimbabwean Primary Schools. In addition, two booksin educational psychology were written by a lecturer inEducational Foundations and Management.WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARSNational workshops and/or SeminarsOne member of staff facilitated on two workshopsorganized by Ministry of Education and Training andUNICEF. They developed Senior/High school Guidanceand Counselling teacher’s guide and materials for Form 1to 5. One staff member published a paper on the role ofeducation in poverty reduction.International workshops and/or seminarsOne lecturer attended a workshop in Singapore wherea Masters module on Leadership was developed. She codevelopedone module on educational leadership in thefuture. This workshop was funded by the Common Wealthof Learning. The same lecturer also attended a workshopon Ph. D Theses supervision for university leaders inJohannesburg. Two lecturers published papers on thePersonal Responsibility Model as a leaner support andmotivation factors associated with participation in distancelearning programmes.Community ServiceMembers of the Faculty continue to serve as externalexaminers for universities in the region.39REPORT OF THE VICE-CHANCELLOR
