It focused onsurveying needs for in-service training on HIV servicedelivery and was funded by International Centre for AIDSCare and Treatment Programme (ICAP). HIV is one of theFaculty’s thematic research areas.A baseline National PMTCT Assessment of infant andyoung child feeding practices protocol funded by theMinistry of Health was undertaken. The assessment showedthat breastfeeding practices are a norm among infants 0-6months, however, early supplementation increases is therisk of mother-to-child transmission of HIV.Research in ProgressTwo research projects are in progress in the Departmentof General Nursing Science. One of them is focusing onone key mandate of the University and aims at developinga clinical learning model for the integration of theoryand practice in Nursing Education in Swaziland and isbeing funded by African Doctoral Dissertation ResearchFellowship for the African Population and Health ResearchCentre. The other study is focusing on promoting selfefficacyand well-being of family caregivers of peopleliving with acquired immune deficiency syndrome. AIDSis one of the leading social problems of the country hencethe importance of this study. This study is funded by theUNISWA Research Board.One research is in progress in the Midwifery Departmentand is in collaboration with other researchers from SADCon the Experiences of Academic Development Leadership(ALDA) fellows as postgraduate students on researchsupervision from three SADC countries. The findings ofthis study will inform academics on the areas to considerwhen supervising post-graduate students in research, inline with the UNISWA Strategic Plan on strengthening43REPORT OF THE VICE-CHANCELLOR
