One of these projects isa doctoral dissertation, submitted to theUniversity of KwaZulu-Natal. The otherprojects analyse issues in the areas of gender,modernisation and globalisation as expressedin traditional and contemporary Africancultures. This research addresses four priorityareas of the Faculty’s Themes for Research,Motivations and Priority Areas as follows:Theme 1(3) Comparison of culture inSwaziland with the rest of the world;Theme 3 (2) Swazi Written Literature;Theme 4(1) Swaziland’s Historical andContemporary Experiences since 1968;andTheme 6(4) Information Technology:Penetration and Use of ICT in Swaziland.Research in progressThirty two research projects are in progressin the Faculty of Humanities, in the areas ofAfrican Languages and Literature, EnglishLanguage and Literature, History, Jounalismand Mass Communication, and Theology andReligious Studies. These projects explore Swaziand other African cultural and developmentissues concerning tradition and modernity,from the perspective of the Faculty’s departmentalsubject areas: Language, Literature,History, Journalism and Religion.
