International workshops and/or seminarsFour lecturers attended international workshops, seminarsand conferences. These were the Nursing Education AnnualConference held in Sun City, South Africa; an AfricanHealth Profession Regulatory Collaborative for Nursesand Midwives Continuing Professional Developmentworkshop in Durban, South Africa; a Progress throughRegional Collaboration and Resource Exchange workshopin Arusha.Two members of staff from the Department of MidwiferyScience presented papers at the 29th Triennial Conferenceof the International Confederation of Midwives in Durban,South Africa on values and beliefs of rural Swazi womenduring labour and cultural differences in birthing practices.A third staff member chaired a session at this conferenceon the theme Diversity in Midwifery. A staff member inthe Midwifery Department also attended the Annual Tau-Lambda-at-Large Nursing Conference in Sun City, SouthAfrica and presented a paper on perceptions of pregnantwomen about prevention of mother-to-child transmissionof HIV infection during pregnancy.Another member of staff attended a Regional Workshop onOpen Access Journal Publishing sponsored by UNESCOat the Academy of Science of South Africa, Pretoria, SouthAfrica and presented a paper on Challenges and Problemsfacing journal editors today—focus on the UNISWAResearch Journal of Agriculture, Science and Technology.Two members of staff in the Department of EnvironmentalHealth Science participated in the British Council/DelPHEproject workshop in Cape Town and the 29th AnnualConference of the Environmental Education Associationof Southern Africa in Maseru, Lesotho at which a paperentitled “Towards energy efficiency for sustainabledevelopment at the Mbabane Campus of the University ofSwaziland” was presented.Book ReviewA staff member in the Midwifery Department has beenappointed a book reviewer for chapters one to six of Sellers’Midwifery: A Textbook and Reference Book for Midwivesin Southern Africa, Second Edition.CONSULTANCYThree academic staff members in the General NursingScience Department have participated in consultanciescovering areas such as Development of National HIVguidelines for most at risk populations for the Ministryof Health and World Health Organisation; Developmentof maternal, neonatal, and child health curriculum forcommunity health workers in Swaziland for the Ministryof Health; and Administering of the National CommitmentPolicy Instrument for United Nations General AssemblySpecial Session on behalf of the National EmergencyResponse council on HIV/AIDS.AWARDS, RECOGNITION & HONOURSSTAFF MEMBERSProgramme Year Female Male NAME OF AWARDING PERSON/Colile P.
