Comments to other Boards: 5 comment letters were provided to the Zoning Board of Appeals
and/or the Planning Board.
Violations: The Commission dealt with no violations this month.
Subcommittee Work: One subcommittee meeting was held with contractors to discuss
procedures of the Commission. Another meeting would be set in upcoming weeks to discuss
specific details that will be provided in advance by the contractors group.
Field Work and Administrative Work : Staff made numerous site visits to review proposed
projects; inspected projects for compliance; conducted numerous site visits prior to work start
or to review projects in progress; conducted inspections for Certificates of Compliance;
followed up on violation matters which included attending Orleans District Court, writing
violation letters, calling contractors; and met with applicants, contractors and representatives;
reviewed all building permits prior to their issuance; issued comments to the Zoning Board of
Appeals and to the Planning Board.
Conservation Land Management
Sylvan Gardens: Met with staff members of Community Development regarding parking area
and trail access to the property.
Training Field Triangle: Oversaw AmeriCorps trail maintenance at Training Field Triangle.
Led walk around property.
George Ryder Forest, Hill Conservation Area: Reviewed recently surveyed bounds of
conservation properties and mailed letter to homeowner regarding encroachment onto Town
Land.
Wildfire Preparedness: Met with contractor regarding additional work at Town Forest.
Stewardship: Met with Chatham Senior Tax Work Off Program Employee, to develop a work
plan for the Stewardship Program.
Videos: Met with Channel 18 staff and AmeriCorps Service Member to develop a plan for
creating short videos about Conservation Properties.
Public Outreach & Education
Commission Chair DeeDee Holt writes a biweekly column for the Cape Cod Chronicle.
Agent gave a presentation to the Chatham Garden Club on native and invasive plants
Senior Tax Work Off Program: The Conservation Division is very pleased to have three
participants who have begun projects under this program. One is working on a conservation
land stewardship program and another will be assisting with public education materials and
organizing a couple of workshops/lectures. A third will be assisting with upcoming recycling
events. We are delighted that the town will benefit from their career skills and expertise to
accomplish these projects.
