Human Resources Recruiting activity was conducted for the Secretary DPW position. Seven candidates were interviewed of the seventy six applicants. Robin Young was chosen as the finalist, and she will start on March 18, 2013. Robin lives in Chatham and has significant experience in an office environment with an emphasis on bringing technology solutions to office processes. There was a significant weather event from February 8 through February 11 that required time and coordination of public safety, coastal resources, sheltering, and information resources. Chatham fared well through the event with minimal power outages, and sheltering needs. Coastal areas experienced significant erosion, and a coordinated effort among departments kept information available through channel 18, the Town website, and local media sources. The Cape Cod Municipal Health Group finalized benefits rates for fiscal 2014. Overall increases will be 5.5%, and made up of 6% on active plans and 0% on retiree plans. This modest increase, given healthcare trends at 10-12%, was possible due to the group’s ability to use $8,000,000 of Department Head Monthly Report to the Town Manager – February 2013 Page 17
