Assimilate best practices to balance management, employees, and taxpayers points <strong>of</strong> view in<br />

the creation <strong>of</strong> that environment.<br />

Human Resources<br />

Recruiting activity was conducted for the Secretary DPW position. Seven candidates were<br />

interviewed <strong>of</strong> the seventy six applicants. Robin Young was chosen as the finalist, and she will<br />

start on March 18, 2013. Robin lives in <strong>Chatham</strong> and has significant experience in an <strong>of</strong>fice<br />

environment with an emphasis on bringing technology solutions to <strong>of</strong>fice processes. There was<br />

a significant weather event from February 8 through February 11 that required time and<br />

coordination <strong>of</strong> public safety, coastal resources, sheltering, and information resources.<br />

<strong>Chatham</strong> fared well through the event with minimal power outages, and sheltering needs.<br />

Coastal areas experienced significant erosion, and a coordinated effort among departments<br />

kept information available through channel 18, the <strong>Town</strong> website, and local media sources. The<br />

Cape Cod Municipal Health Group finalized benefits rates for fiscal 2014. Overall increases will<br />

be 5.5%, and made up <strong>of</strong> 6% on active plans and 0% on retiree plans. This modest increase,<br />

given healthcare trends at 10-12%, was possible due to the group’s ability to use $8,000,000 <strong>of</strong><br />
