The number <strong>of</strong> building permits received and issued is tracking closely with 2012 activity<br />

although the average dollar value per permit is significantly higher than the average for the full<br />

2012 calendar year. This appears to be due to the higher number <strong>of</strong> permits for new homes<br />

and the amount <strong>of</strong> nonresidential additions/renovations occurring in the community this year<br />

as compared to 2012.<br />

REGULATORY BOARDS<br />

As expected, the activity <strong>of</strong> the Land Use Regulatory Boards is increasing and is tracking at<br />

comparable levels as in 2012.<br />

Historical Commission – There were two Historical Commission meetings in February 2013.<br />

The Building Commissioner worked closely with the Commission on several <strong>of</strong> the applications<br />

considered during February.<br />

Historic Business District Commission (HBDC) – There was two HBDC meetings in February<br />

2013. Of note is the significant number <strong>of</strong> sign applications which came before the Commission<br />

in February. This seems to be consistent with past years and appears to reflect the movement<br />

<strong>of</strong> existing retail establishments within the community as well as the introduction <strong>of</strong> new<br />

businesses in anticipation <strong>of</strong> summer business activity.<br />
