The number of building permits received and issued is tracking closely with 2012 activity
although the average dollar value per permit is significantly higher than the average for the full
2012 calendar year. This appears to be due to the higher number of permits for new homes
and the amount of nonresidential additions/renovations occurring in the community this year
as compared to 2012.

REGULATORY BOARDS
As expected, the activity of the Land Use Regulatory Boards is increasing and is tracking at
comparable levels as in 2012.
Historical Commission – There were two Historical Commission meetings in February 2013.
The Building Commissioner worked closely with the Commission on several of the applications
considered during February.

Historic Business District Commission (HBDC) – There was two HBDC meetings in February
2013. Of note is the significant number of sign applications which came before the Commission
in February. This seems to be consistent with past years and appears to reflect the movement
of existing retail establishments within the community as well as the introduction of new
businesses in anticipation of summer business activity.
