12 Uhr Bauernmarkt Jirák
In nur 15 Gehminuten erreicht man
den geschäftigen Jirák-Markt, der im
Schatten des markanten Žižkov-Fernsehturms
liegt. Von mittwochs bis
freitags kann man dort die besten
landwirtschaftlichen Erzeugnisse aus
dem Prager Umland verkosten. Überall
gibt es Probierportiönchen traditioneller
Gerichte, wie zum Beispiel Schwein
oder Ente mit Kohl und Knödeln. An
Ständen, die einheimische Weine und
Craft-Biere anbieten, mangelt es nicht.
Der Markt liegt außerdem direkt am
Jírího z Podebrad Platz, der von gemütlichen
Restaurants und Cafés gesäumt
wird, wie dem Mamacoffee oder der
beliebten Bar BeerGeek. Allein an
diesem Platz könnte man einen ganzen
Tag verbummeln.
12pm Jirák Farmer’s Market
A brisk 15-minute walk up the hill,
and almost in the shadow of the
imposing Žižkov Television Tower,
is the Jirák Farmer's Market (open
Wednesday to Friday). Here you can
taste some of the best local produce
from farms on Prague’s outlying areas.
The tasting portions of pork or duck
with cabbage and dumplings are
typical traditional dishes, and there
is no shortage of wine and craft beer
stalls. The market is situated directly
on the Jírího z Podebrad Square,
which is surrounded with plenty of
cosy cafés (make sure you try the
tiny Mamacoffee), restaurants and
the popular BeerGeek bar.

14 Uhr Letna Park
Den besten Blick auf die Stadt hat man
vom riesigen Metronom im Letna
Park aus. Seit 1991 steht das Monument
an der Stelle, an der 1955 ein über 15,5
Meter hohes Stalin-Denkmal enthüllt
wurde, nur um sieben Jahre später
schon wieder gesprengt zu werden.
Der Aufstieg von der Metrostation
Molostranská den Hügel hinauf
erfordert zwar ein wenig Anstrengung.
Wer dann aber Lust hat auf eine Tasse
Kaffee, ein Bier oder einen leichten
Imbiss, findet im Park mehrere Cafés
und Restaurants, unter anderem den
Hanavsky Pavilon. Wenn man den
Park dann in nördlicher Richtung
verlässt, erreicht man nach einem entspannten
Spaziergang Letna, das neue
Trendviertel von Prag.

The best view of Prague is from the
Metronome in Letna Park, the exact
spot where Stalin’s massive 15.5-metre
statue stood from 1955 until it was
completely destroyed in 1962. To get
there, huff and puff up the hill from
Molostranská Metro Station before
putting up your feet at popular eatery
Hanavsky Pavilon. Exit the park to
the north and take a leisurely stroll
to the Letna district, which is Prague’s
new hip hotspot. Here, you'll find
a wide choice of cafés, cool bars
and restaurants.
