NOTE: The 4.57-cm (1.80-inch) primary hard drive must be installed in the hard drive bay.<br />

Installation of this drive in the optical drive bay is not supported.<br />

Primary hard drive connector board (required for installation of primary hard drive) 495026-001<br />

Before removing the primary hard drive, follow these steps:<br />

1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn<br />

the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.<br />

2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.<br />

3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet<br />

and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.<br />

4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 46).<br />

Remove the primary hard drive:<br />

1. Position the computer with the front toward you.<br />

2. Loosen the two Phillips PM2.5×6.0 captive screws (1) that secure the primary hard drive bay<br />

cover to the computer.<br />

3. Lift the inner side of the primary hard drive bay cover (2), swing it up, and remove the cover (3).<br />

The primary hard drive bay cover is included in the Plastics Kit, spare part number 492577-001.<br />
