We are promoting the use of cutting-edge<br />

cooperative technology at TfL to communicate<br />

with all streetscape users in real time to examine<br />

and improve customer experience, reliability,<br />

safety and the environment. Trials in this area<br />

include a real-time, state-of-the-art digital<br />

screen mapping tool at a Regent Street bus stop.<br />

The bus stop incorporates a data feed of live<br />

departure information. We share information<br />

across the modes and work with businesses to<br />

make this information accessible to all.<br />

4.6 Changing behaviour and enabling<br />

different choices<br />

Land use planning<br />

High density, mixed-use development schemes<br />

with embedded walking and cycling infrastructure<br />

can ensure that travel by foot or cycle is the<br />

most competitive option for short and medium<br />

journeys. We are working with developers to<br />

promote schemes that implement car-free and<br />

‘car-lite’ proposals, including the provision of<br />

Mayor’s Cycle Hire Scheme and/or car club<br />

infrastructure to offer an attractive alternative to<br />

car ownership or use.<br />
