COMPANIES
The ASSA ABLOY Group
ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems is a division within ASSA
ABLOY, a business group created in 1994 through the merger
of ASSA in Sweden and ABLOY in Finland. Since then,
the company has grown from a regional company to an
international group with 44,000 employees and annual
sales of more than SEK 57 billion (more than € 6,000 million).
It is headquartered in Stockholm, and is present in
over 70 countries around the world, especially in Europe,
North America and the Asia-Pacific, leading the sector in
areas such as access control, identification technology and
entrance automation.
Specialization in large doors
One of the areas of expertise of ASSA ABLOY Entrance
Systems is hangar doors, mainly with vertical lifting,
which constitute the best solution for companies
of sectors such as aviation, shipyard and mining. Such
doors has almost no limitation to size or configuration,
and are are a great option for massive openings,
which are needed by the hangars, or factories working
with large pieces. To cover these features, ASSA ABLOY
opening hangar systems focus primarily on a single
door leaf or multiple system.
Single door leaf is specifically designed to provide reliability,
safety and high energy efficiency. With no need
for ground tracks, the risk for malfunction is eliminated
and they meet the demands of large-scale manufacturing.
This allows a more cost-effective system design,
which saves space and makes it easier to customize the
size of the hangar.
ASSA ABLOY has already installed
several hangar doors for the airports of
Teruel, Málaga, Valencia and Torrejón
de Ardoz, as well as several aerospace
manufacturing facilities
It highlights the Crawford VL3010 vertical lifting fabric
door model. This system is designed for medium-sized
openings and has a high-speed version to cope with
openings exposed to intense traffic. For extremely severe
environments Crawford VL3010 is available in an
extra corrosion-proof version. To extra large openings
there is the Crawford VL3016 door, specially designed
for extreme industrial environments, and minimum
maintenance. Every door is individually designed
to meet application requirements, for example wind
load. Finally, ASSA ABLOY includes among its products
the Megadoor VL3190, the preferred door model for the
extremely large door openings needed for aircraft hangars,
unlimited in size. Such doors allow adapting the
size to any windload.
Multiple-leaf aviation hangar door systems offer significant
savings in construction costs by permitting a virtually
unlimited opening width with variable height. Since
the multiple-leaf aviation hangar doors lift vertically, the
need for expensive ground tracks and door pockets is
eliminated, enabling more cost-effective facility design.
All the doors are available with translucent fabric for
natural lighting, which improves both the working environment
and allows for energy savings. In addition,”
we incorporate load restraint systems patented by
ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, which guarantee maximum
safety for people, aircraft and equipment at facilities,”
says the company.
Consolidation in the Spanish market
ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems is present in more than
30 countries on 5 continents, and operates with an
authorized network of distributors over 50 countries.
Headquartered in Sweden, it has production facilities
in Europe, North America, Asia and Oceania, with more
than 10,000 employees.
Its brands Besam, Crawford, Megadoor and Albany are
well known worldwide, offering specialized products
and services to meet the needs of comfortable, safe, reliable
and sustainable end-user operations.
ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems is also reference in the
specification of projects thanks to its Access Engineering
department, which provides support to architects
and specifiers with creating aesthetic, intelligent and
sustainable entrance solutions.
