CESA REINFORCES ITS COMMITMENT TO R&D
THE SPANISH COMPANY WORKS TO POSITION ITSELF AS A LEADER IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW
APPLICATIONS AND TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE AIRCRAFT OF THE FUTURE. IT HAS RECENTLY STARTED
TWO NEW PROJECTS FOCUSED ON ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS AND PROTOTYPING OF COMPONENTS BY
LASER POWDER SINTERING.
SOSTENIBILIDAD
CESA está liderando el programa
SELENA, encaminado a desarrollar
(National Entrepreneurial Research Consortia Strategic
Programme) of the Centre for the Development of Industrial
Technology (CDTI).
The objective of this project is to take a decisive step
in the integration of more electrical systems aimed at
the aircraft of the future, which must be necessarily
safer, more efficient and reduce pilot’s workload,
whilst also taking into account a lower environmental
impact.
In addition to CESA, the project involves other major
companies such as Airbus Group, Orbital, DMP, Ramem,
and Temai, as well as several Spanish research
centers and universities: the Andalusian Association for
Research and Industrial Cooperation (AICIA), linked to
the University of Sevilla; TECNALIA, TEKNIKER, Prodintec,
Ikerlan, and the Polytechnical Universities of Cartagena,
Madrid and Navarra.
The programme is divided into several lines, like Efficient
generation with H2 technology, led by CESA; Safer
and more efficient electric / hydraulic / mechanical
systems, in which CESA is involved in the development
of a shock absorber with active control based on magnetorheological
fluids; Reduction in pilot’s workload
using more electrical actuation systems, incorporating
predictive and diagnostic systems to increase reliability
SUSTAINABILITY
CESA is leading the SELENA
programme aimed at developing more
electrical, safer and more efficient
systems to reduce weight and pilot’s
workload
and safety, led by CESA.; and Use of novel manufacturing
concepts in systems for a radical weight reduction
and decreased use of raw materials, in which CESA is
involved, too.
The project is expected to take three years and will
end in 2018. The budget for the development of this
consortium is over €7.2 million, 75% of which is financed
by the CDTI and the remaining 25% by the companies.
