BW_What does the event mean to you?
Sam Light: The Triple-S is the
biggest event of the year, it’s
my bread and butter. A few years
ago I decided to devote all
my time to “wake style” and
park events and the Triple-S is
the biggest park event. It also
has the biggest prize purse so
there’s some serious money on
the line! The event itself holds
more clout than other events as
its been around for such a long
time and been at the pinnacle
of wake style riding forever.Col-
Colleen Carroll: This event means
a few different things to me.
Firstly, I feel as though it was a
huge launching pad for my professional
kiteboarding career.
When I won the wildcard in 2012
and placed 2nd overall, I was
hardly in the kiteboarding scene.
That following year, North
Kiteboarding picked me up for
their International team. I can’t
attribute that solely to my participation
in the Triple-S Invitational
but it sure didn’t hurt!
In addition to being a significant
milestone in my professional
career, it is a very important
week to me socially. And I don’t
just say that because I like to
party! It’s the one week a year
where the majority of my close
friends within the industry are
in one place. We kite together,
live together, surf together and
enjoy each other’s company on
and off the water throughout
the event. It truly is the most
fun week of the year!
Brandon Scheid: The Triple-S
was my first event I ever entered
and it has always held a
special place in my heart. Not
only is it one of the most prestigious
events in kiteboarding,
it is also one of the most fun. I
get to spend a week riding in
perfect conditions with all of my
friends from all over the world.
It really is the highlight of my
competitive year and I eagerly
look forward to it each season.
I always looked up to the
guys riding in the event, and it
was a dream come true to join
them on the big stage. I couldn't
be more stoked to participate in
my 9th Triple-S!
