Movie Actors and Actresses<br />

Lauren Bacall. Known <strong>for</strong> her enticing<br />

voice and good looks; starred in several<br />

movies with Humphrey Bogart such<br />

as The Big Sleep (1946), Dark Passage<br />

(1947), and Key Largo (1948).<br />

Humphrey Bogart. Superb character<br />

actor in such films as Maltese Falcon<br />

(1941) and Casablanca (1942).<br />

Kirk Douglas. Versatile actor who<br />

per<strong>for</strong>med in a range of films including<br />

Young Man with a Horn (1950)<br />

and Lust <strong>for</strong> Life (1956), and Spartacus<br />

(1960).<br />

Henry Fonda. Famous <strong>for</strong> his roles<br />

Opera Singers<br />

Marian Anderson. African American<br />

opera singer (contralto) who made<br />

history in 1939 when she sang at the<br />

Lincoln Memorial be<strong>for</strong>e a crowd of<br />

75,000; one of the most celebrated<br />

singers of her time, she mainly per<strong>for</strong>med<br />

in concerts and recitals.<br />

Andrea Bocelli. Blind classical tenor<br />

particularly noted <strong>for</strong> his recordings<br />

that have sold over 75 million copies.<br />

Renée Fleming. Lyric soprano noted<br />

<strong>for</strong> a wide ranging repertoire that<br />

includes operas by Strauss, Mozart,<br />

and Handel; also per<strong>for</strong>ms jazz and<br />

popular music.<br />

Marilyn Horn. Mezzo-soprano who<br />

specialized in powerful roles of beauty<br />

and great challenge.<br />

Plácido Domingo. Spanish tenor who<br />

sings a wide variety of roles from<br />

Wagner to Rossini and Bizet; conductor<br />

and opera producer.<br />

Luciano Pavarotti. Noted <strong>for</strong> his singing<br />

William Caesar Warfield. African<br />

American bass-baritone who was<br />

famous <strong>for</strong> his role in Porgy and Bess;<br />
