It all started in a shared university accommodation numbered
27 in Kuala Lumpur with an initial capital of RM200 each from
five ordinary Malaysian teenagers, four years ago.
Today, the team sells customised tie-dye t-shirts and football
jerseys to the entire nation and collections are often sold out.
The fab five are Rashdan Nasarruddin, Rezuan Rahmat, Hafiiz
Yusoff, Hidzir Azizan and Hakim Hasan. Together, they are
known as – 27 Legacy Tie-Dye.
Rashdan, who handles marketing matters within the company,
said, "Our sales figures are amazing and I can safely say
Malaysians are proud to tell the world that they are Malaysians
(by wearing our clothing). Each year, our clothing with the
Malaysian flag design grows and we have a steady number
of customers from all races purchasing and wearing the Jalur
Gemilang tie-dye t-shirt."
He said the collection showcasing the Malaysian flag was
named the Jalur Gemilang collection as Jalur Gemilang is the
second name for the nation's flag.
In this era, Rashdan said people often forget to show their
love and appreciation to their home country.
"We forget the struggles the people of the past took in order
to create the Malaysia we live in today. The struggles to achieve
balance within a multiracial community in such a beautiful
country. For us at 27 Legacy Tie-Dye, by producing these
clothing, this is how we show our love and appreciation to
our nation."
