Longevity has produced a variety of new stages of life. Baby<br />

boomers have been in the forefront of creating new rituals, secular<br />

as well as faith-based, that inform and give substance to<br />

these new stages, thus creating moments of meaning. We will<br />

explore a variety of these new rituals and blessings that are in<br />

use and have been used in this expanding world of aging.<br />

Buddha’s Five Daily Recollections<br />

meditation, and go on to learn the 5 Daily Reflections of the<br />

Buddha. We will have a group discussion on how and why doing<br />

this practice can lead to an experience of being more present in<br />

each moment, and how precious each moment is to live as fully<br />

as possible, at every age.<br />

Post-Acute Patients<br />

families are utilizing technology in the home environment. Learn<br />

about the types of technology they are using and for what<br />

purposes, how they access and pay for the products, and the<br />

benefits they receive. In addition, learn how vendors are selling<br />

their products to home care agencies and consumers and the<br />

key components necessary to successfully implement technology<br />

in senior homes.<br />

CareRinger is an automated telephone service that has many<br />

applications for our aging communities. This presentation will<br />

focus on the applications and lessons learned. At the end of the<br />

session, the audience will have a better understanding of this<br />

telephone-based technology for home care, implementation<br />

issues and solutions.<br />

and Resilience Peer Group<br />

Come share your experiences and concerns regarding the new<br />

regulations for Medicare/Medicaid programs on emergency<br />

preparedness. Targeted services include skilled nursing,<br />

intermediate care facilities, home health agencies, federally<br />

qualified healthcare and others that serve aging and disabled<br />

populations. Participants will also discuss practical approaches<br />

and resources that may be useful within agencies and facilities.<br />

The goal of this peer group is to strengthen interprofessional<br />

connections among students and emerging professionals and to<br />

increase the capacity of a workforce trained to care for older<br />

adults and their families. The purpose is to deliberately carve<br />

out a space for emerging professionals to convene, build<br />
