Americans Act. Examples of development at the health plan or<br />

funder level, as well as initiatives at the local level will be shared.<br />

facilities, health plans, hospitals, FQHCs and physician groups.<br />

Hilltop Institute instituted a longitudinal analysis to determine<br />

the correlation between public benefits, health outcomes and<br />

healthcare costs. The potential savings generated in healthcare<br />

costs are astounding.<br />

MO203 Responding to Caregiver Assessment in<br />

Medicaid Waiver <strong>Program</strong>s: Are We Ready?<br />

In the context of a dramatically changing long-term services and<br />

supports (LTSS) context nationwide, the State of Ohio is positioned<br />

to roll out a new caregiver assessment to be used by<br />

Medicaid home and community-based waiver agencies in 2017. In<br />

preparation, we conducted a statewide study to evaluate the<br />

capacity and readiness of Medicaid LTSS organizations to respond<br />

to assessed caregiver needs and strengths. We present findings<br />

from our study and implications for LTSS policy and practice.<br />

Expanding the Role of Volunteers<br />

This session presents examples of LTC providers who currently<br />

screen and train people to provide non-medical staff support to<br />

include personal care for residents. These “super” volunteers<br />

possess a passion for and commitment to serving older adults.<br />

In addition, this session presents supporting research that<br />

clearly reveals that volunteers can be, and desire to be, trained<br />

for the purpose of supporting professional care staff resulting in<br />

a paradigm shift in the way we view and use volunteers.<br />

Mediation: A Wellness and Prevention Model<br />

multi-party, multi-issue prevention and wellness model that<br />

utilizes an integrative transformative mediation team consisting<br />

older adults can be sure that family, friends and/or healthcare<br />

providers know their wishes.<br />

Learn about ancient longevity Taoist techniques, employing<br />

several types of meditation and energy exercises. The use of the<br />

system has shown improvement in overall health, stamina and<br />

vitality. The techniques are relatively easy to learn and results<br />

modern scientific modalities, can offer healthier, more active<br />

and enjoyable aging.<br />
