A meeting of the Public Council under the
Ministry of Energy on March 17, 2017 was
held under the chairmanship of G. Gref.
A report on the activities of the Ministry
in 2016 and plans on 2017 was made by
Russian energy Minister Alexander Novak
that the outcome of the 2016 positive,
noting the record levels of oil and coal. A
gas was broken multi-year trend of declining
production. According to the Minister in 2016,
Russia produced 547,5 million tons of oil,
occupying 12.4% in world production and
ahead on volumes, Saudi Arabia, USA, Iraq
and China. In 2017 the production of oil and
gas condensate in Russia will increase to
548 million tons. In 2018 it is expected the
increase to 553 million tons, and in 2019 this
shelf production will continue. After a while
Russia reduces oil production.
As one of the positive aspects of 2016 the
growth of capital investments in the Russian
oil industry to 1.21 trillion rubles was marked.
In 2016 Russia produced 640,2 billion m 3 of
gas, in 2017 it is expected a slight increase –
up to 640,5 billion m 3 . In 2018 this figure will
rise to 648,3 billion m 3 , and in 2019 – to 656
billion m 3 .
In 2017 one of the key tasks of the Ministry
of energy will be the approval of the project
of Energy strategy of Russia until 2035, the
Entry into force of this document will meet
the needs of socio-economic development of
the country, to improve territorial production
structure of the sector and to provide
technological independence of the energy
sector.
One more important task is the approval of
General schemes of development of the oil
and gas industry up to 2035. It will include
the Eastern gas program and the concept of
the development of the internal gas market.
Speaking about the prospects of gasification,
energy Minister Alexander Novak said that
Russia will never be gasified by 100% citing
the economic inefficiency.
The European Parliament adopted a resolution banning oil
and gas extraction in the Arctic waters of the European Union.
