Ever frost
By the middle of the February, 2017 on
Vostochnaya Messoyakha, the first oil million
was extracted. The value is achieved less than
5 months from the commissioning of the field,
it was possible thanks to the applied modern
geological techniques: for the first time on this
asset, the company-operator started mass
drilling the wells on the “fishbon” technology. As
pointed out by Gazprom Neft, the basic layers on
Vostochno-Messoyakhskoye field are terrigenous
reservoirs with the extreme intermittency on the
area and section. Complex geology aspects
of the field required the applying of the newest
drilling methods of the field developing (including
drain holes) and supporting the terrastatic
pressure.
As, for example, the well No. 380, developed
on the Vostochnaya Messoyakha in the
last autumn, have the unique properties.
As explained by Aydar Sarvarov, general
manager of Messoyakhaneftegas (joint
company of Gaspromneft and Rosneft), the
technologies applied in developing Vostochno-
Messoyakhskoye field, allows the increasing
of the scope of oil-saturated zones in complex
geological conditions and the presence of
400-meter layer of the permafrost ground. After
that, best practices help to protect the unique
ecosystem of the Arctic zone due to the reduction
the area for the drilling.
Vostochno-Messkhoyansky licensed site is
placed on Gydan peninsula in Tazovsky region
of the Yamal Nents Autonomous District, in 150
km from the nearby settlement Tazovsky. The
project was launched in the short term in the
conditions of absence the industrial and transport
infrastructure. Nevertheless during 2015-2016
the extracting companies and subcontractors
supplied on Vostochnaya Messoyakha more
400 tons of cargoes by water transport and on
the winter roads. On the field a lot of modern
technical and engineering solutions were applied,
thanks to that Vostochno-Messoyakhskoye field
wad equipped less than three years. To the
middle of the February of the current year, it was
operated 94 operational oil wells and the average
daily production is 7.3 t of oil.
The fields are connected with the mainstream oil
transport system “Zapolarie-Purpe” of the pipeline
length 98 km. From the low arctic temperatures
the pipeline is protected with the heat insulation
layer. For preparing to the transportation, oil
of Vostochno-Messoyakhskoye field is heated
on the central production facility. In addition, to
preserve the layers of permafrost, the supply
pipeline was built above ground on the special

beam water crossing and special
passes for animal migration.
Underwater crossings of the
pipeline through the rivers are
built by the direct drilling, it
allows saving unchanged natural
rivers. According to Gazprom
Neft plans on the current
year, the drilling volumes on
Vostochno-Messoyakhskoye
field will increase in two times
and the drilling will by 19 rigs
simultaneously: in winter it was
supplied 11 new drilling rigs on
the field.
Investment doles in the
developing of Vostochno-
Messouakhskoye field exceed
85 billion rubles. Current year
Gazprom Neft is going to invest
in the field abour 20 billion rubles
and up to 2040 both project
partners plan to invest 256 billion
rubles. As explained by the first
Deputy of the General manager
Vadim Yakovlev, to the end of
the current year it is planned to
extract 3 mln tons of oil and in
2018 extract about 4 mln tons of
oil on Messoyakha. The peak of
extraction in the volume of 5.6
mln tones per year is planned in
2020. Currently extracted stores
of the field are estimated in 340
mln tons.
The northmost oil project will one
of the growing point of the raw
hydrocarbon deposits production
in 2017. On the basis of growth
plans of oil extraction there aere
for main upstream projects in the
company: Iraqui Badra, Kuyumba,
Messoyakha and one more arctic
project Novy Port. These projects
will allow the extraction level in
89.2 mln tons (+2% in comparison
with 2016, according to this
result, the company achieved the
value 86.2 tons of oil equivalent
hydrocarbons).
