BUSINESS-ACCENT
In the area of project implementation is the
largest in the region number of representatives
of indigenous minority peoples of the North –
about 11 thousand people, half of whom lead a
nomadic lifestyle. Gazpromneft-Yamal, provides
financial assistance to the nomads who are in a
difficult life situation, involves in various social
projects and organization of air traffic and deliver
food in remote areas.
New approaches to the Arctic
Applying of new technologies for the efficient
and safe oil production in the permafrost is
one of the key priorities of the company. On
June, 2016, Gazprom Neft adopted a program
"the development of fields in difficult climatic
and geographical conditions" in the overall
technological strategy of the unit of exploration
and production. The objective of the program is
to fix the best practices that are already applied
in building on the various company projects, to
select and test new technologies, and prepares
model solutions for major building projects
which will reduce the time searching for the right
technology and to reduce the errors.
Working in difficult climatic conditions is not news
for oil and gas companies. Large deposits today,
as a rule, are not located in the most accessible
locations. Harsh climate, long distances to the
nearest shelter, and problems with the transport
infrastructure – all this can result to large
difficulties for their settlement, and hence costly.
As noted in the company, any extra ton of cargo
becomes critical if you need to deliver thousands
of kilometers on ice roads and incorrect logistics
decisions can lead to a repeated growth of the
already considerable expenses.
Novy Port and Messoyakha are implemented
in the permafrost zone. As explained by the
specialists of Gazprom Neft: the soil here
for thousands of years is in a frozen state,
and the heat from the constructed facilities
should not lead to thawing, otherwise the
ground will "float" and begin to sink, damaging
and destroying structures. To comply with
temperature balance, the pipeline lay not in the
ground and on supports. It is important that
heat from the chimney, at which there is hot oil
is not transferred into the ground. Therefore,
the pipelines under the supports provided with
stabilizers special tubes, collecting the heat
from the soil into the environment. Buildings and
tankers in these regions also erected on stilts
and rose above the ground so that heat is not
transmitted to the ground.
As noted in the company, the cost of building
the pipeline is affected by many different factors:
FACTS
5.6 mln
is the peak of extraction up
to 2020
89.2 mln
tons Gazprom plans to
extract in 2017
pipe material, design of supports,
the thickness of the insulation
layer, the use of electrical heating
systems, selection of the optimal
lengths of the pipeline. So in the
construction of pressure pipeline
on Messoyakha, the use of pipe
material of higher strength class
allowed to reduce the total cost
of construction: decreased metal
consumption, the weight of the
pipe, thereby reducing the number
of supports and to save on
construction and installation works
and delivery of the equipment.
Gazprom Neft gives an example
of saving on material in the
framework of the project on the
Novoportovskoe field. When
laying pipelines on the multiple
well platforms, usually used
radial scheme where each well
to measuring node is a separate
pipe. But in permafrost regions
they are located above ground on
poles and it dramatically increases
the consumption of the materials
and the cost of the entire facility.
“As a solution to problems of
Novy Port was proposed and
considered two-pipe system,
consisting of a single tube of the
collector and one test line. This
scheme requires an increasing the
number of valves, but it simplifies
the site of the metering installation
and significantly reduces the
consumption of the whole system.
In the future construction pads
on permafrost will be carried out
according to this scheme," said the
company.
One more direction of
development of Arctic technologies
is the use of the construction at
oil production facilities finished
modular blocks, allowing fast
assembly in cold climate.
According to the experts, currently,
many pumping stations, canteens,
administrative complexes,
dormitories and many more
are delivered as complete units
with all necessary equipment.
Using new approaches and
technologies Gazprom Neft today
is successfully developing the
Russian Arctic.
