martyrdom, may Allah be pleased with him, along with most <strong>of</strong> those<br />

with him who were <strong>of</strong> Ah1 al-Bayt, after those @aitors scattered and<br />

left him. His killing (&) was a great shame and a serious calamity<br />

that would break the heart <strong>of</strong> every ~uslim."'~<br />

3.12.4. The words <strong>of</strong> '<strong>Ali</strong> ibn al-Husayn<br />

(may Allah have mercy on him)<br />

It is proven that '<strong>Ali</strong> ibn al-Husayn said: "0 people <strong>of</strong> Iraq,<br />

love us as Muslims. Do not love us as idols, for the way you love us<br />

has become so bad that it is something we are ashamed <strong>of</strong>."1131 It is<br />

narrated that a group from Lraq came to him and spoke badly <strong>of</strong> Abu<br />

Bakr, 'Umar and 'Uthmh (may AUah be pleased with them). When<br />

they had finished speaking, he said to them: "Can you tell me, are<br />

you (the poor emigrants, who were expelled from their homes and<br />

their property, seeking Bounties from Allah and to please Him, and<br />

helping Allah [i.e. helping His religion - Islamic Monotheism] and<br />

His Messenger [Muhammad]. Such are indeed the truthful [to what<br />

they say]) (Qur'an 59: 8)?" They said: "No."<br />

He said: "Are you *those who, before them, had homes [in<br />

Madinah] and had adopted the Faith, love those who emigrate to<br />

them, and have no jealousy in their hearts for that which they have<br />

been given, and give them [emigrants] preference over themselves<br />

even though they were in need <strong>of</strong> that. And whosoever is saved from<br />

his own covetousness, such are they who will be the successfulb<br />

(Qur'an 59: 9)?' They said: "No."<br />

He said: ''I bear witness that you are not among those <strong>of</strong> whom<br />

Allah (&) said: (And those who came after them say: 'Our Lord!<br />

Forgive us and our brethren who have preceded us in Faith, and put<br />

not in our hearts any hatred against those who have believed. Our<br />

Lord! You are indeed full <strong>of</strong> kindness, Most Merciful.') (Qur'an 59:<br />

10) Get out, may Allah (s) sort you
